TechEd 2011 - Notes

I just spent a week in Atlanta for the first time, but I barely saw the slightest wink of the city outside the Georgia World Convention Center.  TechEd is, as you know if you've ever attended, an almost overwhelming melange of educational, social, commercial, and technological excess.  Between walking miles of GWCC hallways and attending a huge array of breakout sessions, hands-on labs, and meals, I and my co-workers only escaped the hotel / GWCC / hotel circuit once.
Wow, we found great barbecue that night.  If you're a carnivore in Atlanta, I'll wholeheartedly recommend Daddy Dz.
Anyway, among the technologists at TechEd were a number of the big brains behind Denali, and specifically a lot of folks involved with the new Denali BI technologies.  I've got a lot to think about, re-read, and write up on those seminars.  The enhancements to the main SQL engine and SSIS are only a whisper next to the efforts being put in for self-service reporting.  You'll see a lot on Project Crescent coming up, I'm sure.
